FIS technical delegate, Emmanuel Yout of Chamonix, France, inspected the snow conditions on the race hill for the men's World Cup downhill and slalom in Wengen, Switzerland on January 2, 2010.

He confirmed that the Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill course is ready and will be held as scheduled from January 15 through 17, 2010.

The downhill trainings will be held Jan. 13 and 14. The super combined race takes place Jan.15, followed by the Lauberhorn downhill Jan.16 and the slalom Jan.17.

The classic Lauberhorn race in Wengen, Switzerland is the longest downhill in the World Cup with run times around two and a half minutes and highest maximum top speeds approaching 150 km/h.

Surrounded by the massive mountains of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and with spectacular run features such as the Hundschopf (jump over a rock nose) or the Wasserstation (tunnel underpassing the local railroad), the Lauberhorn downhill is an established attraction and a highly challenging race for the athletes.

In contrast to the downhill, the Wengen slalom is probably the shortest one on the men's World Cup circuit. However, with a steep first section and some tricky transitions in the middle and end part of the race, the course showcases enough perils to provide for an interesting race.

The stunning airshow of the Patrouille Suisse will take place again this year and is scheduled for Saturday, January 16, at 11:40 h CET.

The World Cup ladies night slalom race, scheduled for Jan. 12 in Flachau, Austria, is also a go as the race course area passed the required snow control conditions review.
