Different injuries continue to plague Audi FIS Ski World Cup athletes in the early season. Especially the Swiss team seems to hit by the misfortunes.

After the season-ending injuries for Céline Hangl and Andrea Dettling, one of the talents on the Swiss ladies’ speed team Nadja Kamer injured her left knee while playing volleyball on Monday. Besides injuring her collateral ligament, she also sustained a tear in her inner meniscus which was operated on in Zürich on Friday. The operation should not, however, delay her recovery and she is expected to return to racing after a several week break when the World Cup returns to Europe.

Another Swiss Daniel Albrecht broke his right index finger in training in Sölden this week and was operated in Zürich on Friday. He is expected to return to training in a week.

The three-time Garmisch 2011 world championship medalist Christof Innerhofer (ITA) had a severe crash in super-G training in Stubai on Thursday and was taken to hospital in Bruneck to examine his head and knee injuries. After spending the night in the hospital, Innerhofer was able to return home without requiring additional examination on his left knee. He will need to rest for at least a week, after which his physicians will re-examine the state of his injuries to determine the next steps.

Innerhofer is reported to plan a return to racing in Lake Louise at the season’s Speed Opening with downhill and a super-G scheduled on 26th-27th November.
