The Finnish Alpine ladies and men are excited for the first ski camp on snow after they have been taking time off after the long 2009/2010 season.

"In May and early June I started to really play sports again, and yes it was nice to enjoy a regular life again. May was a holiday month for me, and I did some traveling although not very far. I did not have any bigger plans but that worked out well for me. At the end of May I was starting to feel that it is nice to return to the athlete's everyday life, "said Tanja Poutiainen.

"The first plan is to go to snow camp on the Stelvio, namely the Italian side of the glacier. I've been there once before, but it has been quite some years, so it will be nice to go back there now. When the winter comes, we will move on to new training places, "Poutiainen said commenting on the training place chosen by the new head coach Christian Thoma.

Sanni Leinonen, another female ski racer on the Finnish team, was also pleased to have had a period of rest, but to the Alpine skier it is important to keep snow in the mind also in the summer.

"The pause in May was good as it allowed me to sit back and relax a bit. Now we got a little bit of time before the first snow camp, so we can get excited about skiing again. It will be nice to test what it feels like to wear skis again, "Leinonen commented.
The Men's team is also enthusiastic about their first snow camp and will go through a reorganizational process on a coaching level in the upcoming season.

"I look forward to the upcoming winter and the future but at the moment I exclusively concentrate on the summer and the fact that my body will be completely ready and in well conditioned that I can go even harder than up to know," Marcus Sandell said who missed the largest part of the World Cup 2009/2010 season due to injury.

Sandell had a clear opinion of the new head coach, Slovenian Janez Slivnikistä, after the first training camp with him this past spring."He has a direct way of giving feedback and is willing to discuss all the technology issues and such with us. I got a really good feeling and I think this will all have a positive impact on the atmosphere within the team and will eventually lead to better results," Sandell was convinced.
