Perfect conditions for Austrian downhill men

"Everything perfect, we're doing well," reports ÖSV men racing director Mathias Berthold from Portillo (Chile). Last Thursday Michael Walchhofer and Co. left for South America to prepare for the upcoming World Cup season.


After a stopover in Santiago de Chile, the Austrian downhill team started training in Portillo ski resort this past Sunday. The focus in these two-weeks of is on downhill and super-G. "The conditions are now perfect. Although there is not as much snow as we have wished, nothing stands in the way of organizing a quality downhill and super G training, "said Mathias Berthold.

For Michael Walchhofer, Mario Scheiber, Georg Streitberger, Klaus Kroell, Andreas Buder, Max Franz, Hans Grugger, Joachim Puchner, Romed Baumann and Hannes Reichelt a separate piste and Skidoos are available every morning. "The piste is well maintained and in very good condition. By using the Skidoos we can get the skiers back to the start faster. We also need them for the glide training and the gliding tests, "said Berthold, who can look forward to the next ten days. The weather in Portillo announces sun and pleasant temperatures, so optimal training conditions.
