The 41-year-old Patrick Järbyn from Borås is ready to spend another year as an Alpine downhill specialist in the World Cup.
Next week it's off to camp in Kaunertal, Austria, for getting used to the skis and do some technical drills. I am really eager to practice and it'll be a great time next year, says Järbyn.
Ever since Kvitfjell in Norway the Swedish veteran skier, who is on the national team, knows that he is in good condition after the crash in the super-G race in the Olympics in February.
The body feels really good. I have rested up and I was with my family. I am seriously motivated to ski race next year. Above all, because it is so much fun but also because it went really well this past winter, says Järbyn.
An example of the success was in Lake Louise in Canada in December where the Swedish speed team wrote history. Two Swedes, Patrik Järbyn and Hans Olsson from Mora finished top-ten in a downhill race.
It was really cool. To think that I had to wait 18 years for such a thing to happen, but it also shows how difficult it is to do downhill and super-G. Now I will ski for a year and I stay with my ski brand Atomic where I have always received a great deal of support, which seems important. I know what I can and hope to get the most out of my body before it runs out, Järbyn says and laughs.
