When the Finnish Alpine Ski Team announced its team roster for the 2012/13 season on 23rd May, the name of Kalle Palander was missing. Since then rumors have been rampant about the continuation of the former slalom world champion's career. A press conference called by Palander was set for 31st May but then cancelled by the athlete at short notice.
Based on a media communique distributed last week, Palander is still considering his future options."I have nothing new to say. Please leave me alone so I can train well and listen to my body before a final decision," he states.
"There is still room for improvement both in my physical and mental fitness before August when the final decision about belonging to the national team must be made," Palander added.
In an interview with MTV3, Palander noted: "If I continue my career I need someone to keep me in line. I have spent the spring training on my own so it is clear that some changes are needed rapidly. But things are not yet clear and I do not have answers at the moment. I need a couple of months, that should be enough."
