Men's first downhill training on Feb 10 rescheduled to 10:30

WHISTLER, Feb 8 - The Vancouver Games Men's first downhill official training, originally set to start 11:45 on Wednesday, February 10, has been rescheduled for 10:30 on the same day.

Sports manager Pete Bosinger (CAN) took the decision in consultation with FIS Chief Race Director Guenther Hujara (GER) and pushed up the start of the first downhill training session on Wednesday in the light of a series of storm fronts rolling in off the Pacific. Snow and fog are expected to limit visibility on the mountain around mid-day.

After learning that snow could fall in Whistler over the next three days, FIS race director Guenther Hujara informed team captains of the decision at the meeting on Tuesday.

Three training runs are planned to be carried out between Wednesday, February 10, and Friday, February 12. The men's downhill competition is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, a day after the official opening ceremony of the Games.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the next few days is not favorable for the region north of Vancouver as rain and snow are both projected to continue through Sunday.
