Three-time world champion Mario Matt will be racing on BLIZZARD skis and TECNICA boots next season. The Austrian slalom star has signed a two-year contract with racing team BLIZZARD-TECNICA.
Mittersill (Austria) - A prominent addition has been made to Italian Tecnica Group's BLIZZARD-TECNICA racing team. Three-time world champion Mario Matt will start next season wearing skis from the traditional ski brand BLIZZARD and boots from TECNICA, signing a two-year contract with BLIZZARD-TECNICA. Race Manager Bernhard Knauss is excited about the coup: "We are quite excited about this commitment from Mario Matt. He has been one of the best slalom racers in recent years and is very well-liked by fans. This strengthens our team and gives us - in addition to Reinfried Herbst - another highly experienced racer with the potential to win at the highest level."
BLIZZARD-TECNICA strengthens its presence in Slalom
Mario Matt has been one of the most successful alpine ski racers in recent years. Starting for Arlberg's Ski Club, the slalom specialist has won 12 World Cup races and reached the podium over 30 times in his career. In 2001 he achieved his first major victory, winning Gold at the Alpine Skiing World Championships in St. Anton. In 2007 in Are, Sweden, he took a second World Championship title in the team category, in addition to winning his second Slalom title. At BLIZZARD and TECNICA this new commitment by the prominent Austrian is seen with pride. "In Mario Matt we have, in addition to Reinfried Herbst, another successful and popular ski star on our team. Such a well-known, professional racer creates even more of a presence for us in the skiing world, lending an additional motivational push to the whole brand. We will also profit from his experience in ski development," said a visibly enthusiastic Thomas Zettler, Managing Director Sales and Marketing BLIZZARD-TECNICA.
Mario Matt highly motivated with his new sponsor
Harmony between man and machine - the 2001 and 2007 Slalom World Champion only needed a few tests to realize that his new equipment was not only fast, but just right for him: "With BLIZZARD and TECNICA I felt quite comfortable after only a few test runs. There is an enormous amount of potential for me here. Also, a small, high-quality team has the advantage of being able to adjust quickly to my individual needs and wishes. My teammate Reinfried Herbst showed just how fast one can ski with BLIZZARD and TECNICA in his victories last season. I would like to profit from this and go on the offensive again," commented the 32-year-old Arlberg native after signing his deal.
