The planning phase leading up to the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017 officially kicked off on 25th July with the foundation of the organization „FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017“. In less than five years’ time, the Swiss town will again play host to the season’s skiing highlight.
In the assembly on 25th July, first decisions were taken including defining and electing the executive board, the project team and further members of the organization.
The executive board consisting of Sigi Aspiron (Mayor of St. Moritz), Urs Lehmann (President of Swiss-Ski) and Ariane Ehrat (CEO of Tourism Engadin St. Moritz) will be chaired by President Hugo Wetzel. The President of Engadin St. Moritz Tourism and head of the St. Moritz 2017 successful bid committee will undertake the project lead. His operational team will consist of five members operating in key areas such as construction, race organization, finances and marketing.
The St. Moritz 2017 team is now set to prepare for successful World Ski Championships led by individuals who were part of St. Moritz’s bid committee and will take the operational activities to a next level using their skills and experience.
