Levi has again enhanced its snow-making system for the Levi Black World Cup slope to even better service the Slalom Opening of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2012/13 season, set for 9th–11th November 2012.

Cancelled last year due to unseasonably warm temperatures, the new investment is especially focused on the snow production capacity on the top of the Levi Black slope in order to enable a highly efficient snow production process. The system can use up to 1500 m3 water in a hour which means that the snow required to cover Levi Black can be made in few days. The slope has also been assessed with laser measurement and the Levi Ski Resort uses the Snowsat-satellite navigation system to plan and optimize the snow amounts.

”We are very grateful for the immense investments by Levi Ski Resort to support the World Cup here. Levi's snowmaking and its supporting technology are top notch and the staff are very experienced. Obviously, however, we will still need cold temperatures,” said Levi World Cup Secretary General Mikko Saarinen.

Levi partners with Globe Hope

Levi also continues its cooperation with design agency Glope Hope which reuses materials from events to create something new. The goal is to pay attention to the environment and save the natural resources while respecting ethical principles.

In 2010, the slope banners were reused as media folders and after the cancellation of last year's event the materials that were planned for slope advertising were reused into a bag which will serve as the welcome gift for this year's VIP guests.

”We want to contribute to sustainable development and our cooperation with Globe Hope is an example of this. We recycle most of our advertising elements and produce most of them from already recycled materials”, explains Saarinen.
