Lara Gut has decided to definitively skip any attempt to participate in the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010.
This decision was taken after consultation and discussion with her doctors, Dr. Siebenrock, who operated her hip, and Dr. Olivier Siegrist, the Swiss Ski Team's physician.
The news comes as no surprise. Head coach of the Swiss Team Hugues Ansermoz was already informed last week that an Olympic start for the 18-year-old would hardly be possible. Lara Gut suffered a hip disclocation in late September when training giant slalom in Saas-Fee. At this point she is expected to return to ski training no earlier than late January.
At present, the two-time medallist from Val d'Isere 2009 can only do off snow training in the gym and swimming pool.
Lara Gut is currently vacationing somewhere sunny and warm.
