This week saw the Italian Alpine teams training near the sea or in Tuscany. The Alpine men were on the island of Elba, the ladies in Montecatini and the European Cup athletes in La Spezia.
The men's training camp on Elba lasted until Friday and consisted of various training units on the bike and in the gym. The ladies too focused on road cycling and dry land training in Tuscany.
Besides cycling the men also went out canoying during the six-day camp under the guidance of Vittorio Micotti, Claudio Ravetto, Jacques Theolier and Gianluca Rulfi.
The tech ladies in Montecatini spent long hours cycling and also tried themselves in a type of triathlon: cycling followed by running followed by roller blading. Led by Seraina Pazeller, the ladies also took on yoga and strength, core and balance training. They concluded with a 110 km road cycling tour with 1400m of altitude gain.
