The Austrian Alpine Ski squad for the World Cup season-opening Giant Slalom in Soelden has been unveiled after the selection trial staged at Moelltal.

Men's head coach Toni Giger has chosen ten racers, captained by 'Der Blitz aus Pitz' aka Benjamin Raich.

The 30-year-old ace aims to claim his first-ever win on the Rettenbach glacier but there will be several skiers to watch, for example the Super-G World Cup holder Hannes Reichelt and Hermann 'Herminator' Maier, a three-time winner in Soelden. Romed Baumann and Mario Scheiber earned the last two spots after the trial.

The men's Austrian team for Soelden:

Benjamin Raich, Christoph Gruber, Mario Matt, Stephan Goergl, Rainer Schoenfelder, Hermann Maier, Philipp Schoerghofer, Romed Baumann and Mario Scheiber.

Women's head coach Herbert Mandl has also called-up ten racers. The female Wunderteam can count on Elizabeth Goergl, Kathrin Zettel and Nicole Hosp. Hosp was the last Austrian winner in 2002, when she shared a three-way win with Norway's Andrine Flemmen and Tina Maze of Slovenia. Silvia Berger and Regina Mader claimed the last two spots.

The women's Austrian team for Soelden:

Elisabeth Goergl, Kathrin Zettel, Nicole Hosp, Michaela Kirchgasser, Andrea Fischbacher, Anna Fenninger, Stefanie Koehle, Eva-Maria Brem, Silvia Berger and Regina Mader.
