KITZBÜHEL. Lorenzo Conci (IT) is the technical representative authorised by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for monitoring snow conditions on the Streif and Ganslernhang. Nothing now stands in the way of the 2010 races.
After a positive test run by the race organiser Michael Huber, second in command Axel Naglich and piste manager Herbert Hauser, the FIS snow inspector has given the „Green light" for the 70th Hahnenkamm-Races from the 22nd - 24th January 2010.
„Snow conditions are excellent. The Hahnenkamm-Races can start as planned", states Conci. „Our team, the snow makers and piste groomers have provided great ground work over the last few weeks", explains Richard Profanter from the Kitzbühel Lift Company (BAG piste manager).
The Kitzbühel Lift Company has equipped four piste grooming machines with GPS devices to measure snow levels. These measurements help enormously with the piste management. According to HKR-piste manager Herbert Hauser, „With exact snow level measurements we can work meticulously on precise points". Fine details can be added to the system using hand held devices which have been purchased by the Kitzbühel Ski Club.
„Now it's down to the finishing touches, the piste team has been on duty since yesterday.
The race course will be closed to the public as of Monday", announced Hauser.
Georg Hechenberger from the Lift Company added that the well prepared ‚Kampen' and a further 170 kilometres of piste will still be open. „The Ganslernhang is now waiting for the world's best skiers.
Final preparations will be made this weekend", says Karl Schwingenschlögl, Ganslernhang piste manager. Michael Huber added that preparation work is in full swing „The entire piste team is already working at maximum capacity".
