In the range of activities and events held in the lead up to the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming 2013, a golf tournament staged by the Organising Committee was held on 20th September. The prominent field of participants ranged from former ski racer Hansi Hinterseer, to active alpine racer Max Franz, former German ski jumper Dieter Thoma and FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis. She was also a member of the winning team including slalom World Champion Lea (Soelkner) Schramek.
Some of the participants moved on to bluebird sky and sunshine in Kitzbuehel that invited further sports prominence to the first Toni Sailer Memorial golf tournament from 21st-23rd September. Held at a combined result of 9 holes at both the Rasmushof course located at the foot of the Hahnenkamm race slope and the Golfclub Kitzbühel, the event dedicated to Austria’s three-time Olympic gold medallist and seven-time World Champion featured a high-class field of starters. This tournament has been a first step towards the 75th anniversary of the prestigious FIS Ski World Cup Hahnenkamm races in 2015 where further celebrations to the memory of the local ski legend are planned.
