Jon Olsson grew up in Sweden and also started skiing there but now lives in Monaco. He has won ten Winter X-Games, the US Freeskiing Open in Vail in US, The Red Bull Big Air in Åre in Sweden, Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships in Riksgränsen in Sweden and the World Superpipe Championships in Whistler BC and now runs his own competition, the Jon Olsson Invitational in Åre, Sweden.

Olsson is very well known in the skiing industry and in his discipline freeskiing, the Swedish athlete is one of the best in the world who has brought home the impressive number of eleven medals at the X-Games so far. He is able to make very difficult tricks, such as D-spin into a flatspin (DJ Flip), a switch double rodeo (Hexo Flip), as well as a double flatspin 900 (kangaroo flip) but now he is making a comeback as a professional Alpine skier. The freeskier wants to qualify for the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 - and not in his own domain but in alpine skiing. Winning the Nor-Am Cup is a first step in the right direction for the Swede.

For Jon Olsson so far everything is going according to plan. His mission actually started out as a personal bet and with his giant slalom title in the Nor-Am Cup he achieved the objective he had set himself as a first step to make it to the 2014 Sochi Games in alpine skiing.

Consistent performance is the key to success

Olsson wanted to be among the best in last winter's Nor-Am Cup, the American equivalent to the European Cup. The 27-seven year old athlete did even better than that. He not only won his first Nor-Am Cup giant slalom race this past season in Panorama (CAN) on December 14, 2010, but when all scores were counted Olsson even claimed the title in the NorAm Cup overall giant slalom rankings.

His consistent performance was the key to success. In six races, the HEAD athlete collected as many as 202 points, 13 points ahead of second-place finisher Kasper Nolan, who already competed in five World Cup races this past season. The NorAm Cup title win was the first step towards Sochi for Olsson.

After this outstanding achievement, Jon Olsson is now geared towards European Cup and then later on World Cup. He still has four more years to complete his mission.
