After the Mallorca training camp that focused on the base and endurance, this week's intensive block for the Austria Ski ladies including Anna Fenninger and Co. is taking place in Lärchenhof in Erpfendorf where fast legs are the focus besides endurance. To that effect, the ladies are training with Austrian track & field specialists. Successfully!
ÖSV conditioning coach Jürgen Kerschbaummayr explains: "Walter Hable and Philipp Unfried are the coaches of sprinter Karin Mayr and the Austrian Olympic hope Beate Schrott. With this new cooperation with us, their task during this camp is to provide our athletes with new ideas and impetus. Explosive strength and endurance are the key factors in ski racing. Those are our focus this week.“
Walter Hable noted: "We are training, among other things, on improving running technique. Through that we can work on coordinative and functional impulses. In the end, we will transition the basics into special speed workouts."
Michaela Kirchgasser commented: "The special thing about this training is that I am really putting those muscle groups to work that I need especially in slalom. Speed is very important for that and I am really happy to have the support of the track and field coaches here."
Andrea Fischbacher added: "Today's focus is on the basic technique of squats, keeping the position and working with focus on caring for the joints. In the downhill we spend a long time in the tuck. Keeping a clean 90 degree tuck position for two minutes requires intensive training."
Anna Fenninger concluded: "The better our technique in the tuck is, the better our performance. That is why it is important to focus on having a good technique. I would also like to turn that into improved explosive power."
