Eight athletes competing in the FIS disciplines including Shaun White (USA) Lindsey Vonn (USA), Bode Miller (USA), Ashleigh McIvor (CAN), Jennifer Hudak (USA), Torah Bright (AUS), Hannah Kearney (USA) and Julia Mancuso (USA) were all nominated for the 2010 ESPY Awards.
The ESPYs were hosted by Saturday Night Live star Seth Meyers and broadcast live on ESPN from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles this past week on Wednesday, July 14 at 9 p.m. ET. In its 18th year, the ESPY Awards commemorated the most exciting moments, greatest achievements and top performances in sports around the globe with the winners being determined by popular vote.

Vonn, Olympic gold medalist in downhill and holder of three consecutive overall World Cup titles, was nominated in the categories Best Female Athlete and Best Female U.S. Olympic Athlete.

The 2010 double Olympic silver medalist and 2006 Olympic gold medalist Julia Mancuso (USA), was also in the running in the Best Female U.S. Olympic Athlete category.

Vonn was one of the big winners of the ESPYs, taking home both awards for which she was nominated.

On the men's side, the American Bode Miller was up for Best Male U.S. Olympic Athlete, having become one of four Olympic athletes to ever win Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal in Alpine Skiing at a single Winter Olympics.

The Espys have become an important stop for sports stars seeking to build a reputation in the media. ESPN is the most-viewed sports TV network in the United States.
