Austria's Maria Holaus hangs up her skis. The 26-year-old downhill specialist from Tyrol had hurt herself severly again and again in recent years.

Three times in her career Maria Holaus suffered a torn ACL. She also had a severe concussion and a fracture of the tibia head. Last winter a fractured ankle that she suffered in Haus im Ennstal in January, ultimately deprived her of the desire to continue her career. With Maria Holaus, Austria loses a skier, who never reached full potential due to the many injuries she had to overcome. Her only World Cup victory dates back to January 2008, when she won the super G in Cortina.
