It was always Daniel Albrecht's motto to never give up. This is also what kept him going and helped him to move forward over the past weeks and months after his crash in Kitzbuehel.

Daniel Albrecht started the project "Never give up" spontaneously on April 29, 2009 while laying in the hospital bed of the Berner Inselspital after having suffered a brain injury due to a crash in a downhill training run in Kitzbuehel, Austria.

His campaign has been a total success. The skier from the Valais was able to hand over a check for 80,000 Swiss francs to the representatives of the foundations FRAGILE Suisse and pro integral.

Albrecht had launched the sale of T-shirts and caps with the slogan "Never give up" in favor of brain-injured people in his first public appearance in the Berner Inselspital.

"I am proud to submit a check in this amount. The extent of the campaign was not clear to us from the beginning, we were overwhelmed with inquiries and had to reproduce quite a few times," Albrecht said when handing over the check.

Whether he will continue to promote the project, Albrecht will decide later.

This year, the Swiss foundation pro integral starts with the construction of a nursing, residential and employment center in Roggwil / BE. This center for young, brain-injured people in Switzerland will be the new home for 70 severely disabled people who were not as lucky as Daniel Albrecht to regain their health after getting hurt.

Statement FRAGILE Suisse

"Never give up" as the way back to normal life is long! With this message Daniel Albrecht speaks from the bottom of the heart of many thousand brain injured people. A brain injury hits the very core of a person. From one second to the other, everything changes in everyday life - at home, at work, with friends.

In Switzerland alone there are over 100'000 people with brain damage caused by a stroke, cancer, accident, or by a cerebral hemorrhage. FRAGILE Suisse helps those affected and their families on their way back into their everyday life.
