After gusts of wind prevailed on the race course throughout the day, World Cup organizers in Crans Montana, Switzerland first postponed the ladies super combined event until Saturday, March 6.

Later on, the Jury unanimously decided to cancel Friday's Ladies' super combined according to the rules. Due to the fact that there is no reserve day available, the event will not be replaced. The further program in Crans Montana will stay as scheduled, with downhill Saturday at 10.00 CET and super G Sunday at 9.45 CET.

The downhill portion of the super combined race originally set to start 10.00 CET on Friday, March 5, was delayed five times, then postponed for the next day and eventually canceled altogether.

The race cancelation may have come as a surprise for some as there was plenty of sunshine on Friday and good snow conditions. But as FIS-race director Atle Skaardal pointed out, "a race start was considered irresponsible and unfair. It would have posed safety risks for the athletes." "With high winds prevailing, it was simply not possible to run today," Skaardal said.
