Claus J. Ryste (35) has been appointed new head of Alpine Skiing at the Norwegian Ski Federation and has signed a contract extending to the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014.

"I am very much looking forward to this. The goal is to continue to build on our current legacy. This winter we have had extremely good results that we must build on. In the future, it should indeed be possible to achieve even more," says Claus J. Ryste.

Ryste has worked with the sport throughout his career. In 2000 he became a trainer for Bærum Ski Club (BSK) before he started Dønski Alpine in 2002. Currently he is serving in the double role of general manager of BSK and Dønski.

"I want to create a good long-term platform for the future. The ambition is to create a system where there is room for the athletes to develop even further. My focus will be on a solid educational offer combined with investment in Alpine," he said.

Ryste originally hails from Ålesund, and has recently lived in Lommedalen. He is a former racer who retired in 1995.

"I will start with a clean slate, and am very motivated to accept this job. The goal is to achieve an organization where several athletes are able to reach the top one day," said Ryste.

Ryste succeeds Jorund Li in the role of Head of Sport, Alpine Skiing with the NSF.
