The three training groups for the Austria Ski men have been training on Mallorca (Alcudia) since last week Wednesday. The daily routine for the Austrian racers including Hannes Reichelt, Romed Baumann, Mario Matt & Co. includes up to 5 hours of road cycling to create a solid foundation for the World Champs season.
Philipp Schörghofer said: "We are excited to train there where many people go on holidays. That's awesome. I am impressed by the training conditions. This is a great start into the World Champs season.“Reinfried Herbst commented: "Basically I am doing well. I can complete almost the entire training program now following my shoulder operation. Of course I have to train in a consequent manner in order to recover the muscular losses in the shoulder area. This cycling camps fits perfectly into my training plan.“
Romed Baumann added: "A perfect start for the season. It is easy to train hard in these conditions. We ride more than 100 km every day and in the afternoon there is an intensive strength workout on the program. To recover from the tough training we enjoy the sea right in front of our door.“
Georg Streitberger concluded: "I have heard from various sides that cycling here in Mallorca is optimal. This camp has confirmed those statements. The tours are exactly what we need and this represents a very successful start into the season for me.“
Not training in Mallorca currently are overall World Cup winner Marcel Hirscher along with Klaus Kröll, Joachim Puchner, Manfred Pranger, Benjamin Raich and Matthias Mayer who are training at home in Austria. The Austrians will return from Mallorca on Wednesday 6th June 2012.
