The first national teams arrived on Monday to prepare for the upcoming weekend's races - the 80th and 81st FIS World Cup races to be held in Åre.

204 media representatives will be on site to cover the races and 100 racers representing 21 nations will fight for an Olympic ticket.

"To greet the 100 best female racers in our small village feels really good. To show the world TV images from a snowy Åre is invaluable for Åre as a destination and Sweden as a nation", says Nalle Hansson, Race and Arena Manager, World Cup Åre AB.

Åre has already been appointed by FIS to host three more Alpine Ski World Cup races up until 2012. The tradition as a host village is extensive and the upcoming races will be the 80th and the 81st in Åre's history.

"To be back in the village where I myself was brought up on skis and being part of these events feels inspiring. For quite a while now I have followed the development of our racers from the commentary position and it will be great fun to cheer them on in our races," says Tobias Hellman," CEO, World Cup Åre AB.
