Although there are still more than one and a half years to go – the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games are already around the corner.
On 1st July 2012, the start the official Olympic qualification period for the Sochi 2014 Games coincided with the start of the new FIS Calendar year.
From now until 19th January 2014, the athletes across all FIS Olympic disciplines have the chance to meet the Olympic requirements in order to be allowed to start in the 2014 Games.
A maximum of 320 Alpine skiers will be able to participate in Sochi 2014 Games, and no more than 22 per nation (and max 14 females or males). The eligible competitors are those ranked within the top 500 in the respective event of the Olympic FIS Points List published at the end of the qualification period on 20th January 2014.
Nations that do not have one competitor who meets the above qualification criteria, may enter one male competitor and one female competitor (‘basic quota’) in the tech events. For detailed qualification requirements per discipline please click here.
