The French shooting star Alexis Pinturault returned to snow together with the rest of the French tech group on the glacier of Pissaillas this week. The ski racer from Courchevel, who collected 6 podiums last season, provided his impressions following the base training season in an interview with SkiChrono. See original article here
Did you recover well after the past season?
Yes it was great. After the French nationals, I stayed in the area for eventual equipment tests which then did not work out in the end. Then I went on to get some sun.
How did your break go?
Everything is going well. I am feeling good. But I was looking forward to returning on snow after a real good block of physical conditioning. Thibaut (Trameau, the conditioning coach) was keeping us on our toes. We restarted earlier this year than last year when our first training camp was not until end of June. This time around we’ll be done with basic training by then. But that is not bad since we have to return on snow to try out the new GS skis.
Correct, what do you think of the new skis?
I have not been too excited about them. I was doing well on the old ones and skiing with them was great fun. The new ones are less of ‘players’. But all in all, we do not have a choice. We have to adapt and find our way to like them and be fast on them.
