Enjoying it

Right now we are just taking advantage of all our hard work last week. The weather has changed completely so it is actually pretty easy-going right now. We can just enjoy the moment, and get the speed races done. Enjoy it until the next storm comes, apparently on Monday night.

I think we have deserved some good times. It was very tough last week. Last night I slept 7 hours and all last week I probably slept 7 hours in total. Now it's perfect for everyone.

Instead of getting on the mountain at 2am, I could sleep until 5-5:30am. Then we had the jury inspection, had breakfast, had the free skiing, did some course setting and slipping and then prepared for the TCM. And tonight I will enjoy dinner with my colleague Jan to celebrate his birthday.

This morning I also felt that I need to go back home soon. To see my kids, and my wife. I have travelled a lot lately. But the season is over soon, another two weeks after the Games, and I can be home for a few days.

Here's the deal with run 1 of today's GS. The light is flat. Flat smooth and you can rip-it.( kind of eerie, that ) Flat and rutted like a luge track kind of slows you down...see Bode Miller.
All of you FIS boys and girls GOOD RACING. REALLY.
And Gordie: Thanks for YOUR dedication.

    Mr. Paul Rattenbury
another reason the ski industry should be thankful.
Folks if your in Whistler get a lesson from this man.
I liked both sets. Especially through Weasel and Fallaway. The off set after Boyd's chin was awesome.
Same goes for the slalom set for the Combined. Brilliant.
Great to see Eric's 2nd run. (2nd fastest)

    Hey, Thanks Paul.
    Man, its been crazy.
Nuttier than Salt Lake, and way more work (as usual) than all the others Games combined. (I am counting all the raking and shoveling in the next few days)
    Take Care.
    GS Smerf.

To all the racers in the SL's and the Women in the GS...Welcome to Whistler an early spring...
Ya never know. When you are 'racing' on cow-pies ya gotta be adaptable - so I hope you were able to rip some free-ski runs in the alpine and the trees.
I bet the medals in Men's Sl are awarded FOR FINISHING.
